S.I.S.M ( Segretariato Italiano Studenti in Medicina Italian Secreteriat of Medicine Students) is a no profit association created in 1970 by, and oriented towards, Medicine University students.
It deals with all the main social issues of medical interest (i.e. the basic education of a Medicine student and the organisations that rule it, the constant updating of the student) with the contribution of several people coordinating all the fields above, on both local and national basis.
Every year hundreds of projects concerning Public Health, Medical Pedagogy and procreation issues are conceived, elaborated and completed on local, national and international basis, to extend the culture of Peace, in an attempt to educate Medicine students towards the main aspects of their future job.
Among our activities:
- One-month internships inside a hospital in either an Italian or a foreign city
- Projects of cooperation for development and health voluntary service in Africa, India, Vietnam, Croatia, Brazil, Guatemala…
- Partnership with Caritas ambulatory clinic and with the Migration and Social Health Service
- Puppet hospital (Medical Pedagogy area)
- Social health campaigns to promote bloodletting, AIDS prevention and womens health safeguard, in partnership with AVIS, AIDO, CIVIS, ADMO, CESVI, AIDOS.
